The Good Shepherd

You have been conditioned to view shepherds as mild, stoic figures from a children’s nativity play, but you must realize they are men of action—fierce, tireless laborers who would chase lost sheep through a storm for days without sleep. Jesus Christ is not the sentimental, hand-wringing Jesus of the altar call who nervously hopes you might eventually accept his “winsome” offer; He is the Good Shepherd and the very God of Creation who possesses the absolute authority to lay down His life and take it up again by His own power. While the modern world, much like the blind and deaf Pharisees, suppresses this truth and hides behind a veneer of “good person” moralizing and prideful entitlement, the reality remains: Christ is the only Door to salvation, and His voice carries the singular, resurrection power that summons the dead to life. You do not choose to become His sheep by auditioning or trying God on for size—you are His because He knows your name, and to reduce Him to a mere moral teacher is nothing short of anti-Christ. Stop hardening your heart against the only voice that holds sovereignty over life and death, and recognize that you are either a wandering soul in need of the Shepherd, or you are among those who hate the God who actually is.
