**Sermon Text: ** 1 Corinthians 12:12-26
Church, if you are in Jesus Christ, you are not an isolated individual; you are a vital member of His body, and the Holy Spirit dwells within you to empower your life for the glory of His kingdom. To alienate yourself from the fellowship of the saints is to commit spiritual suicide. When you treat gathering with the church as an afterthought or an obligatory inconvenience, you are actively robbing yourself of the very means God has ordained to dispense His power and presence into your life. You cannot expect to taste the fullness of God’s grace or grow into the image of Christ in a vacuum; you need the intertwined lives of your brothers and sisters, and they need you. If you cut yourself off from the body, you will inevitably wither and die.
God is sovereign in salvation, and He is equally sovereign in the specific assignments and giftings He has distributed among His people. He did not create us for egalitarian sameness; He designed us with distinctions, just as a human body requires both hands and feet to function properly. You may not yet know your specific role, but the only way to discover it is by remaining firmly connected to the body and committing to formal, covenantal membership. We are called to bear one another’s burdens—to suffer when one suffers and rejoice when one is honored—because this harmony of faith is what dissolves the power of Satan. Stop making excuses, stop being a snob, and start serving the members of this body; your life depends on it.
