**Sermon Text: ** 1 Corinthians 13
Church, we must confront a hard truth: nothing is good apart from love, and apart from love, everything is necessarily evil. Many of us are tempted to define love through the lens of our own subjective feelings or the debased standards of a culture that demands we validate sin to avoid “causing offense.” This is a fraud. When the world screams that Christian preaching is hateful, they are merely proving that they despise the truth. We do not get to redefine love; God has defined it for us in His Word. If your actions, plans, or attitudes are not motivated by the biblical definition of love—which rejoices in truth rather than wrongdoing—then they are void of goodness and ultimately serve the enemy.
Spiritual pride and childishness are the greatest dangers to our fellowship. We are often like the Corinthians, boasting in our gifts and knowledge while treating our spouses and brothers with irritability, resentment, and arrogance. We act like spoiled children who believe we have earned our blessings, rather than recognizing that everything we possess is a gift of grace we did not deserve. Mature Christianity requires a deliberate, disciplined shifting of the mind. You must stop insisting on your own way and start preaching God’s truth to your fickle feelings. Embrace your God-given roles, be patient and kind in your households, and pursue peace by putting your brother and sister before yourself, for love is the lifeblood that invigorates the body of Christ.
